Q. How much do you charge for your service?
A. Our fee is contingent on a percentage of savings.  Our Risk Free Guarantee to you: We do not collect our fee unless the cost of your medical bill(s) is reduced.  We run several promotions through various organizations, associations, and groups which may allow you to obtain special rates for our services.

Q. What is the difference between a Medical Bill Review and a Medical Bill Audit?

A. A Medical Bill Review is based solely on a review of your Itemized Bill.  This service is 100% free.  Based upon our team’s review, your medical bill may be recommended for a Medical Bill Audit, negotiated for a settlement, or returned to you for payment.

We will make a recommendation . . . You will make the final decision. A Medical Bill Audit is a comprehensive line by line review and comparison between your Itemized Bill and your Medical Records.  This is how we determine if your medical bill(s) has errors, over charges, or coding issues.  During this process we are also making sure the charges are Usual and Customary.

Q. How do you get my medical bills and medical records?

A. Many patients’ already have a copy of their medical bills, but in order to do anything we need a copy of your Itemized Bill.  You can either request a copy from the hospital / provider or we can do this for you w/ a signed release.  The hospital / provider should not charge anything when requesting an Itemized Bill.  On the other hand, there typically is a fee (fees are usually set / capped by the state where medical services are provided) when Medical Records are requested. Once again, you can collect these documents or we can request and collect them for you w/ a signed release.  You will be notified in advance of any fee that may be incurred.

Q. How long does the entire process take?
A. No case is the same so it is difficult to give a time frame.  There are several factors that must be considered including the providers response time to our requests, the complexity of each of your medical services / bills, and the individual provider’s willingness to settle the account. We make every effort to expedite the process, but our main objective is to make sure you are only paying / responsible for your portion of the medical bill(s).

Many clients have asked us if they can settle their own medical bills.  Our answer is always . . . YES!  But then the client always asks, “Where do I begin” and “How do I know . . . “.  We are always happy to answer your questions, but wouldn’t your time be used much better by taking care of yours or you’re loved one’s medical needs, rather than worry about how much you were over charged.

Q. How quickly do I have to pay my medical bill(s) after Assent settles my case?
A. It is important that you pay your medical bill(s) as promptly as possible after we reach a settlement on your behalf.  This is important because it clears your debt and eliminates any further delay in future medical treatment by this provider.  We can often settle a case with a larger discount if the payment can be made quickly.  This is what we call a Prompt Pay Discount.  Prompt Pay Discounts usually need to be paid within 10 business days.   In cases where the payment is a financial hardship, we can often set up payment arraignments with the provider.  Although the discount may not be as large, many patients are simply relieved to have the weight off their shoulders and know that they will not be receiving any more phone calls from the provider or collection agency.
